Couple of scrub questions
Hey guys, got my Evo a few months ago. Decided to just go all out before I rack up the miles. I'm not too mechanically inclined, anything I know is from typing questions into google.
Anyways, I'm about to pull the trigger on a bunch of AMS parts, just have a few questions regarding their intake.

2. https://www.maperformance.com/collec...s-04-08-0004-2
3. https://www.maperformance.com/collec...s-04-08-0004-1
What is the difference in styling between 1 vs 2 and 3? I know it said something like it goes down to the front bumper, is it a dramatic improvement?
Which design out of those would have a quieter blow off sound from inside the cabin with the windows up?
Does the black powdercoat serve any purpose or just for show? If it does serve a purpose, is it worth the extra $?
1 shows a heat shield in the picture, but it's not mentioned in the description. Not sure if the heat shield just isn't shown in 2 and 3. So which one will actually come with one? If it doesn't come with one, should I invest one? Mixed opinions from what I read.
I will most likely not be tracking the car too often, maybe 1-2 times a year, but the car will be driven relatively hard on open roads.
TIA guys and sorry again for these scrub questions.

The first is a regular short ram intake, the other two are cold airs(one is polished and one is black). Hypothetically they are positioned in a way to bring in colder air. Personally I wouldn't waste my money on the cold air option your gonna mostly get hot air anyway, wont be worth it in the long run on paper.

2) The CAI would have a quieter sound of the BPV, due to the filter being further from the cabin ( located in the bumper).
3) Black coating is merely for show. Some prefer the polished look, while others prefer the aluminum.
4) Since only option 1 is an SRI which sits in your engine bay, a heat shield is needed to keep the fluctuation of temperatures to a minimum (from the radiator fans blowing into the intake). CAI do not require head shields, since they are located in the bumper away from most of the heat of the engine. I would recommend a shield for an SRI. I run the ETS intake and have a shield.

I actually have the cold air version of the AMS. The air it draws in would in theory be much cooler than the short ram intake. I have also owned the ETS short ram. The cold air intake does have quieter blow off noise, however it is still quite present. If stock noise is a 2/10 the ETS is a 10/10 and the AMS is a 7/10.
