AYC pump relocation reliability

So my pump it's on its way to fail. The car is 2013 and the pump is the one that comes with the car. I live in Canada so it's actually pretty amazing that the pump survived 5 years. Recently, the day is kinda hot (only 30 degrees not a big deal) when there is a typical day like this, the tarmac gravel and snow just blinks and give me c161f code(on its way to death). It's weird that if I drive it during night or cloudy day, no binking at all. So in the end, I suspect that the heat that eventually kills the pump. Hopefully my dealer won't ***** about my mods and tune and get it warrantied. My question is, after my research, I don't really know how the relocation works out, will this makes the pump run for like another 5 to 10 years with our any problem? The trunk obviously will get really hot and I don't know if that will damage the pump. I don't really see any failure cases after the relocations. I am just wondering if any of you guys heard any. My car is currently at 78xxxkm, so I basically have another 6 years or 70,000km for future new pumps. The dealer told me that if I relocate the pump, I will lose the warranty on the pump. The relocation kit from driven fab is pretty expensive, so even I get a new pump for free, it's gonna cost me like another 500 dollars to get it done. So what you guys think>?

I replaced my pump out of pocket of my 2010 at 120000 miles.

I think the new one should last the life of my EVO, i wouldnt spend money relocating it!

If you live where there is a lot of salt on the ground, it will go out. it is not if, but when.

I live in Buffalo and I was getting the run around about the warranty replacement from the local dealership so I relocated. been running the pump in the trunk for about 15000 miles now and no problems at all.

What shape is your underbody in, corrosion-wise?

It's pretty bad. Especially around the suspension components.

I try to clean it up once in awhile but nothing really seems to help.

I am going to try some of that Paint over rust stuff to see how well that works.

The pump itself was covered in salt when I took it off. gave it a good cleaning before it went in the truck but man it didn't look pretty that's for sure.

Seems like relocation is a good idea. Does anyone have experience with the warranty recently in Canada? Seems like my dealer really care if my car is tuned or not.

being tuned or not shouldn't matter with this warranty. Mitsubishi knows this pump is a problem and that's why they extended the warranty.

If the dealership gives you **** about it, you may have to fight it out with corporate but you should be covered, tuned/modded or not. Some dealerships are freaking clueless when it comes to this stuff.

People who had their pumps replaced at the dealership before they extended this warranty even got their money back.

Just be firm and if they give any pushback say you know of a lot of EVO's of all type and level of modification that have had the AYC pump replaced. Have them call Mitsubishi to confirm it's a warrantied item regardless of other parts.

pretty sure mitsu Canada won't honor it if they know. In this case, dealer doesn't really care much

Winter beaters are mandatory where we live. I suggest looking into one.

I've seen what salt does to these cars, and it's not pretty.

There are a lot of modified people that got it changed, the AYC has nothing to do with power or modifications and isn't touched modifying. If they refuse, just nicely push back and ask them to look into it. The pump is being warrantied for ALL cars fora reason, it's not weatherproof as it should be. That has nothing to do with you having a cold air intake and they can't claim otherwise.

Honestly dealership shouldn't care if they replace it, they aren't paying for it, it's a warranty item so doubt you'll get much pushback.
