You'll need a big fat wallet and access to an amazing transmission tuner specific to the MR / SST to reach that. Much easier and safer / cheaper to try the same with a GSR. You can certainly do it, but it can backfire and cost you a lot of money if you go the MR route.

 

You'll want to build the trans. 10 plate clutches with some of the tricks is somewhere around $6k from Kozmic. You'll need a vband turbo kit (ETS, AMS, etc) with a precision 5858 or gen2 5558 (thes emay not hit 500, but they'll make over 450, and the spool up is very good), GSC S2 cams (or similar), appropriate valve springs, and other supporting mods (injectors, intercooler, intercooler piping, fuel pump, exhaust, boost control solenoid, etc). Of course, wideband and boost gauges are recommended at a minimum.


Get ready to spend north of $15k, especially if someone is going to be doing all of the install work for you.


A gsr simplifies the mod path a bit in that you won't even need to replace the clutch until you wear it out...lol

It really depends on the condition of your current trans. If all you need is clutch upgrade. Its around 2500. They charge about $300-600 for valve body upgrades depending on what you want done. Its not horribly expensive but it does cost more to upgrade an SST car because the clutches are more. No matter GSR or MR you still have to upgrade the clutch/clutches either way though.

Stock GSR clutch will hold 400wtq. Just can't launch it

 

 

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying an AWD car if you can't launch it though?
