Evo X won't start - Dash lights up, clicking sounds, but nothing after...
Hi guys,
After selling my old Evo X about a year ago, I just got back in the game with a 2014 Evo X MR.
Flew out of state, and drove it back home (300 miles - 6.5 hours) - no issues at all. The ride home was amazing.
That was a couple days ago.
Yesterday, I woke up, washed the car, cleaned it up a little bit and went for a ride with some friends, no issues there either, everything was fine.
Now I get to my friends place, park the car, and when I'm trying to leave and turn the car on, nothing!
It's not a battery related issue because I still have plenty of juice, my phone bluetooth gets picked up, etc. We tried to jump the car, still won't start.
When you try to turn it on, you can hear the fuel pump, and then the 'click' sounds, and when it's supposed to turn on, it goes blank.
Any idea on what might be going on? The only difference between this Evo and my old one is that this one has the FastKey / Remote Start feature, so I'm not sure if that's what's causing the issue or not.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

its your battery, just because you have enough power to run accessories in the car doesn't mean it can supply the current for the starter. Put a meter across the battery terminals and see how far the voltage drops on cranking. The starter solenoid clicking is the give away. Initially the battery has enough energy to energize the solenoid, but then when the starter engages the current spike causes the voltage to drop and the solenoid can no longer operate so it opens, then when the current drops again it re-energizes and rinse repeat. Thats my best guess anyway with the information provided.

I am at my mechanic right now, and the car is throwing a code:
P0513: Immobilzier Key Malfunction
This might have to do with some security / safety features of the fastey.
Any of you experienced this before?

Thanks man,
Mechanic was able to get it started by banging on the starter area, so it seems like something funny is going on with the cabling / wires in that zone.

If he got it started by banging on the starer, you're going to need a new starter unless the cable somehow got loose. Check the wiring but 99% likely it'll be the starter on its way out. It'll work a few more days-to-weeks and then need to be whacked again. It's downhill from there.

In the past, I've tested my solenoid on my other cars by having someone hold the key in start position. I hear the click (fork inside pushing the gear out into flywheel). Then I used a junk screw driver and carefully connected the 2 tall posts to turn the motor, which turns the flywheel (expect a big spark and don't short circut screw driver ). Once verified, easiest is to replace it if you can buy it separately.

Thanks for all your answers, guys!
Car is running now.
Mechanic said that the plug was corroded, and he cleaned it up and tightened everything, and I shouldn't have this issue anymore.
If it happens again, I'll probably just get a new starter and that should fix everything.

I forgot about corrosion. I'm glad I don't have to deal with street salt that you guys get during the winters. Glad you got a cheap fix
