Lightbulb Retrofitting Jetta side mirrors to an Evo X

Retrofitting Jetta side mirrors to an Evo X-a8ffum2.jpg

I recently saw a very interest picture on Facebook: an Evo X parked next to some Volkswagen car (looks like a Jetta or Golf). Like the majority of us, my major complaint with the Evo's aesthetics is the big elephant-ear side mirrors. Evo is supposed to be a white shark of something. Mitsubishi, you are wrong to put elephant ears on it.

Thus I'm wondering if we can retrofit Jetta side mirrors to our cars. The Jetta mirrors look a lot more pointy and pleasant, plus the mounting plates looks similar:

(Part number: 5C7857508AC(?) and 5C7857507AD(?), for 2011-2015 Jettas. I haven't really checked if these part numbers are just base assemblies only, or include the body-colour covers also.)

My understanding is that Depo makes OEM knock-offs at a reasonable price, and unlike CraftSquare racecar mirrors, with production car mirrors we might even retain the factory's vertical and horizontal power adjustment functions. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I love how the stock ones look, as they suit the car with fitment and size. I think that you will make it look weird Also paint matching would be who knows. Good luck though your car your choices!

I don't want to give you advice on this, you might sue me

That being said I do agree that the Evo mirrors look a little goofy. The Jetta ones look fine but it seems like more trouble than it is worth.

Ive never paid attention but does Mitsu use the same mirrors on everything?

I think the 2008-2014 model year Evo X's have the elephant ear side mirrors, while the 2015 model year Evo X have the elephant ear plus turn signal side mirrors. Not sure about Lancers and other Mitsu's though.

Previously I tried to retrofit some Honda Accord mirrors and they do look a little weird like Napalm_Enema would have envisioned. For these Jetta mirrors, I'm considering crafting an aluminum triangular spacer-adaptor for the Evo. Hopefully I can find some prior examples of side mirror mods. Else I will have to explore.
