My transmission/ comp clutch stage 2 has started to behave strangely. The clutch was installed 2.5 yrs/ 30,000 miles ago and has been flawless since installation. Recently I have had the following issues:

• Audible shuffling noise on engagement
• Chatter/ Vibration on engagement, especially 1st gear
• All symptoms worst in reverse and on an incline.

The car is my daily- never launched, ever. I am on the revised CMC, clutch pill is in, fluid level is within spec. I peaked into the rubber window under the trans the spring clip appeared to be in place. Once engaged it holds power fine with no slippage.

I spoke with a helpful rep at CC, he thinks it could be the disc is at the end of it's life but agrees the it is a little low on the miles...he mentioned most discs on the Evo X make it to around 50k.

Has anyone with this clutch experienced this issue after some miles on this clutch? Could the stock CMC be causing these symptoms? Any input is appreciated!

For thread closure the chatter was caused by a failing Competition Clutch throw out bearing which ultimately failed. Revised CMC is doing fine.

Replacement with an OEM throw out bearing and ACT monoloc collar fixed the issue.
