Is this appraisal Legit?

Hey Guys,

Looking to sell my 2011 Evo X so went in to get it appraised, and want to make sure i'm getting a fair offer on this. I had it appraised a couple weeks ago at $15,000 which with the list of minor repairs this car needs, I though was a fair offer. Lower than i'd most likely get selling privately, but I'm going for a quick no-hassle sale so i thought 15k was fair. However after getting reappraised today, they claim they missed some "Frame Damage" on the original appraisal and dropped the offer to $13,000. It's hard for me to just accept a drop by $2,000 so I'm looking for advice.

First off, is this frame damage a legitimate issue? I've attached a pic, and there is a spot on the frame where it looks to be pushed in a bit, as if somebody jacked the car up in that spot and it impacted a bit.

If this is legitimate frame damage, is the offer of $13,000 actually a fair offer for the car? I wanted to sell with as little hassle as possible, but am I missing out on significant money if I go this route or is the damage really significant to the value of the vehicle? Other than some relatively minor cosmetic repairs needed, its in great running condition. Also added a pic of the appraisal summary if that helps.

The car is all Stock, only 56k miles. I live in the Chicago area, so there is underbody rusting and alot of dings and scratches on the car but otherwise runs great.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

It's not damage really, its exactly what you said, someone used the wrong jacking point. Don't sell the car to CarMax. You'll easily get 30-50% more selling private party..

I just sold my 2011 with 55,000 miles to Carvana for $15,020 (Told them "Fair" condition, car was pretty modified). I didn't want to deal with private sales either. Shady people and others who just want to drive the car. It was super easy, filled out the online stuff, and that's the appraisal. They request ID and title info, then schedule someone to come out. If everything matches what you put in the form and no issues with the test drive, they cut you a check and drive off with the car. Wasn't a super critical look-over either. They were mostly just worried if the car would have any drive-ability issues.

Edit: This was like 2 weeks ago too. So, not long ago.

Carmax is almost always going to be your bottom offer. Carvana is an option as would be a local dealer. I got the best offer for my dad on his Lexus by taking it to the Lexus dealer and they were happy to buy his 7yo car for cash.

Compare it to blackbook pricing. Dealers use a composite of Blackbook, and online listing to appraise a car.
Best to search for a car similar to yours on CarGurus, and see what they are charging. Expect an appraisal to be 1500-3000 lower than selling price for a car like yours.

That frame damage is bull****, half of the cars on the road have bent and crushed lift points. They won't do anything to fix it, and they won't tell a prospective buyer.
Go somewhere else.

That is definitely not frame damage. Now if they want to deduct 2k because of the under body rust then that's a tad more understandable.
I walked away from 2 Evos when I was looking because of rust.
like others said try Carvana I was quoted 19.5k with carvana and 17k with carmax.

oh thanks for this info. I was wondering what happens once you accept the online quote.
