I finally hit my goal and I hope I set the bar high for us 4B11T guys, proving more, what a 4B11 can do even in stock form.
- stock, high mileage 4B11T bottom end (over 200k
miles on it, which I believe is a key point) on which I reused the head gasket when I put it in, 4.5 years ago
- kelford 214-b’s with GSC springs/retainers. Stock valves, stock port work, stock intake manifold, throttle body.
- gen 1 PTE6266 with supporting mods
- newly released ACT MOD twin disk
- self tuned on Tephra v3 and e47/e48 fuel
- transmission and t-case are original, numbers matching to the car with 170k miles. Both stock as well, with the exception of Shep diff pins in the trans.
- read end is a stock RA LSD setup, also with 200k+ miles
The car is still daily driven in the nice spring/summer/fall months. Has AC, heat, heated seats, RF speakers, half leather & half alcantara interior, airbags, power steering and all other creature comforts that came factory, when it’s on the street.
I did all the work to the car from day 1 of owning it (7+ years ago I believe) with the exception of the shep racing diff pins which were done about 6 years ago, a windshield replacement, various alignments and various tunes, however the current tune that ran these times is my own as well.
the car needs a taller final drive, as I run out of gear around the 1000’ mark and basically coast to my 10.6/10.7 times. You can see this in the video, which also has a 360 cam mounted on the back. I’m more so happy with the 60’ times which are (in my opinion) amazing for a low HP evo x, cutting 1.6’s and even a few 1.5’s. The car also broke into the 6’s in the 1/8 which is great since I do a lot of no-prep racing and some street stuff which is all 1/8 mile.
I think the next step is revise my fuel system (the single DW300C is begging for
mercy) and do full e85 as well as a few more changes and try to maybe squeeze out a 10.5 or even a 10.4. But the end goal is either sleeve and build a block and shoot for single digit times, or throw a for sale sign on it and move on. Time will tell
Ended up redoing a bit of the fuel system and retuned the car on a little bit more ethanol.
Ran a 10.462 and backed it up with a 10.479. Best MPH (on stock final drive still) 133.76mph. None of my launches were what I would consider "clean" as it was only doing a 1.56-1.60. I did not change anything launch-wise from before, so I think with more time, tuning & suspension changes I can get the 60' down back into the high 1.4's/low 1.5's and go quicker still.
There's definitely not much top end with it as it runs out of gear so quick. But my 1/8 improved by over a tenth, and picked up 4-5mph. Going to keep chipping away at that for as long as I can, before I build a block & put a real turbo on it.
