Target for a 500hp Evo
Target for a 500hp Evo
Hi. I don't know about mechanics very well, but still love going fast with my Evo and I want to upgrade my SST up to ~ 500hp. Speaking with a mechanic, he gave me this list. I want suggestions and alternative options, if you believe that we can to do the parts list better.
Manifold: Maperformance (Α friend told me Morrison Fabrication)
Air intake: ΗKS RSK (I was thinking about AEM)
Turbo: HKS GT3RS (Α friend told me MHI TF06 18K)
Injectors: Bosh 1300cc
Fuel pump: 450lt/h
Intercooler: HKS R TYPE
Water thermostat: Billion
Oil thermostat: HKS
Remove Catalytic Converter
SST intercooler
ECU tuning

I have no experience on the X but will tell you that it is worth heading over to the dyno section to look at results people have had and their build list. You will see the common parts used as well as get some ideas on setup.
Also to hit 500whp on pump gas vs E85 is 2 totally different goals that will require different things particularly turbo selection will vary a lot depending on fuel.
And as always when posts like this happen, I am going to give the same advice I give every one.
Take an honest look at how you want to use the car and what you like about it. A set hp goal is a surefire way to end up with a car that doesn't act like you want.
In my opinion, a responsive 400whp setup is way more fun than a laggy 500whp setup on the street. This changes if you are only planning to drag race or something.
Be honest with yourself about how you'll use the car and go from there. For example, in your case, I would go with a fuel setup that could support that 500whp goal but just get a simple stock trubo tune and see how you like that. If it isn't enough, you can look at turbo upgrades later.
Just don't want to see another "I modded my car, now I hate it so I'm selling it" post because the range of options wasn't thought through.

First off all thank you for your answer! Days I was wondering if I ask something wrong because no one was not replying. I bought the car with 22000km before 4 months. The car has a first stage setup ~350hp. Is not bad just already I need more. Is not the 500hp the case. I don't care about the number so much. I just want the fastest I can get with reliability in mind. Is not my daily car and I always put hight octane fuel. Just I don't believe that 350hp is the safe limit even with stock turbo. Also I believed that there was a known formula. For example for 400hp you need this stuff. For 500hp the other stuff. But nowhere I don't see that. Finally asking make the things more difficult because everyone has his opinion and when you don't know makes things harder.
Hey generally with the Evo X
With a bolt-on turbo, intake, fuel system 1000cc/1500cc injectors, intercooler, turbo-back exhaust you'd get about 400-420hp. From this point you're looking at Cams/stroker kit, bigger turbo and potentially touching the motor to really get more power (reliably out of the motor).

So over here, E85 is the easy button for more power with pretty minimal changes.
If reliability is the thing that is important to you, I'd either keep the stock turbo or move to the 18k and call it. That will make good power, probably like 400+ and keep the stock bottom end happy-ish.
And on cars like this its more about torque than hp limits for the stock bottom end. I am unsure what that number is for the X but thats what I would probably figure out. And if you have an SST, thats another variable to consider as well.

I'm actually in the market for buying an EVO X. I use to own a highly modified EVO 8 back in the days. I loved the car but reliability was absolutely terrible .. and I only had 450hp at the time (no e85 back then).. things would break all of the time. I want an evo x for a daily... I may do some bolt ons here and there.. but this is a daily.. im not going to modify this thing at all.. I already have a fast care (my g37) .. im sure there are people out there that daily a 500hp evo.. but I wouldnt personally. You have to ask yourself what you want to do with it. Dispite what people say 500hp is fast. Thats a lot of hp and things break. I wouldnt daily it personally but thats just me. 4 clutches, 2 transfer cases, and 2 transmissions later with my evo 8 i sold it. Biggest mistake of my life... is hould have got a dialy and kept it. just food for thought.
