Evo X - External Wastegate - inspection
Evo X - External Wastegate - inspection
Hello all,
I'm wrapping up a long-term engine build and just realized I might have an issue with NJ inspection that I didn't consider earlier.
I'm running an external wastegate with a dump tube venting to atmosphere. I do have a full catted exhaust system with a high-flow cat, and no CEL. OBD-II monitors should be ready.
Has anyone in NJ successfully passed inspection with this setup? I'm curious whether you went to a state facility or a private shop, and if the inspector actually flagged the dump tube during visual inspection or if they only checked OBD-II and emissions. If you failed, what did they cite as the reason?
I know recirculating the wastegate back into the downpipe is the "safe" option, but I'm hoping to avoid repiping if possible. Any real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated before I schedule my inspection.
Thanks.
