Just installed them and test drove, very nice. Hopefully they will hold up nice - but it took me 7 hours start to finish, by myself, in my garage with only my wrench and socket set.

Oh, but I tried removing the front abs sensor and it tore - so now I have an abs warning on start up. Just ordered another sensor, but I recommend NOT removing that sensor when doing the install(it may be seized and the rubber my crack/break the wires), I did the other side without removing it.

This guide will provide help with installing BC Racing coilovers on your Evo X. If you have any further questions, post here and I will answer them.

Tools Required
  1. Jack Stand
  2. Jack
  3. 10mm
  4. 12mm
  5. 14mm
  6. 17mm
  7. 19mm
Front Install

Raise both front together and secure jackstands.

Remove wheels and set aside.

You will need a 10mm to remove the sensor off the back of the hub.

Next remove the 12mm nut off the back of the strut. There is no need to mess with brake lines or clips. Slide plastic guide off the lower part of the strut and move aside.

Loosen top 3 14mm nuts in the engine bay, but do not remove.

Next remove both 19mm studs from lower strut.

The strut at this point is only held in with the top 3x 14mm nuts. You should be able to reach over and loosen these 3 nuts by hand now, while holding the strut from falling onto the cv boot.

Repeat these steps in reverse to install BC coilovers.

For the 2x 19mm lower studs, it will be easier to have a jack under the hub and raise the full hub into the lower bracket.

Rear Install

First we’ll begin by removing the trunk liner and plastics to access the rear top mount.

Begin by removing the center panel of carpet.

The spare tire will need to be removed; both trays on either side of the spare will also need to be removed.

You should be left with just the side liners as shown below. You will have access by moving to the side the liner.

Now we are ready to begin removal.

Loosen the 2 14mm top nuts on both sides.* These are located in the trunk.

Raise rear, secure jack stands and remove wheels.

Remove lower 17mm and slide strut out.

Prepare the rear BC strut by attaching the extensions before installing.

Slide strut into position on top and attach 14mm in the trunk. *This will require another person. If you are by yourself, then skip this step and move to next step.

We suggest putting this 17mm bolt back in half way and using a jack to move the rear hub into position. Attach 17mm bolt through the lower strut and tighten. *If you skipped the previous step, you will now utilize the jack to raise the entire hub and strut into the top mount. Now you will be able to go into the trunk area and attach 14mm nuts.

The extension on the rear is easier to guide out with another person. If no other person is around to assist, you will need to use a hanger or something to hook it and bring it out of the enclosed area above the strut top. **Tip** To advoid metal to metal vibration with the extension, use some sort of padding inbetween it, and the metal bracing.

You should now have the full suspension installed.

Height Adjustment

BC kits have a separate spring perch. All adjustments of height are done using the lower lock ring. To adjust the height, loosen the lowest lock ring (closest to lower mount). Rotate left to lower, right to rise.

Doesnt seem that bad right?

Finished Product

what kind of negative camber are you getting with your evo dropped that low? i'm assuming it's way out of wack when compared to factory spec. i'm also pretty sure it's not adjustable back to that spec when dropped that much. but i was just curious so if you could let me know that'd be awesome. i'm about 2 degrees out of factory spec and it's at the max adjustment on my GTS. i'm assuming the X has much more adjustment with the suspension though? i plan on getting an X btw

I have a quick question on the height adjustment..
I've installed the coilovers n hooked everything up, if I need to readjust the height, do I need to take the 19mm bolts out again? Or can I just loosen the lower ring and turn the cartridge?

Another question...
Is corner balancing required after installing Coilovers?
Recommended? Not required?

No need to remove the bolt. I actually just installed my BC's yesterday with Logan from Darkside Engineering and all he did to adjust them was loosen the lower ring and turn them.

Definitely get an alignment after driving for a few days. You want to give them a little time to settle and then get it aligned.

Do the plastic guides just slide in and out? Or do you have to snap it off?

Any reason the pics are not working for this write up? I need to use it for my BC install.

Thanks!
