Play dvds while driving

There has to be a way to get the multi-communication system to allow dvds to be played while driving. I understand why the laws say monitors cant be where the driver can see the screen while driving. Great. I dont want some dumb@ss crashing into me cause they were busy watching a movie while driving. I would like my passenger(s) to be able to do so. Of course there is not even an option in the menu of the multi-com system to change the disabled video of a dvd while driving. Could there be another way. Pointless to have dvd playing capabilities if my passenger cant enjoy a good flick while on a road trip.

Thanks Mountainbiker54. I read through the thread and it looks like they hit a dead end trying to get it to work properly. Before I even posted this I figured there would be a problem trying to get a movie playing while driving since the dvd and nav are both in one unit. It seems there would need to be a way to change the programming on the software installed in the unit. sux

i fixed mine and it works fine i just cut and spliced in a switch on the green and red wire
on the gps antena i cut very carefully move the braided sheilding to the side as not to break it cut and spliced a switch from the core wire and can play movies all day

only down fall is you cant use navi while watching dvds but if you want to use navi just flip both switchs and it takes about 30 sec and navi works fine

Has anyone enabled the remote screens on the Navi and seen if those turn off when you are driving?

yea $800 is too pricey. And I don't know about that one you found...might be a good find but until someone tests it out i am not buying it...it only says detailed instructions anyway and doesnt mention including anything to bypass it. Kinda makes it sound like you can program it through the settings but I would think someone would of figured that out awhile ago. Hopefully whatever it is works if anyone tests it out please inform.

i bouhg the one on ebay all it was is a picture of the green and red wire to cut and put a switch in line

it dosent work

if you want to be able to do this you have to wire 2 switches inline
one to disable the speed sensor the other to disable the gps signal

its not hard to do and only took me about 15 min

im sorry i havent had time to sit down and do a DIY on it yet

like i said its not hard to do ill see if i can round up a pic

ok cut and splice a switch in this wire do the same on the gps anntana
with the gps all you have to do is make a slit in the side push back the sheilding cut the core wire solder in a switch and put your car back to gether and your done

turn both switchs off to watch movie turn both switchs on to use navi

there IS another way to do this, but it involves pullign the unit apart and flashing the HDD. but it does unlock th eunit so you can put a larger hdd in it as well. the site with instructions is down right now, but when it comes back up i will post up the link.

ya i did the the cut 2 wires thing but i only installed 1 switch. Its a single pull double throw switch. Essentially you can run 2 separate wires trough 1 switch.
