I am looking to get this done in the GTA area as well...

I've already talked to Dixie Mitsu and they refused to perform the installation saying that the harness which is hardwired onto the ECU is different on the GSR and MR therefore the MR headlight assembly won't plug n' play on the GSR and also the ECU programming is different (I guess for auto-leveling?)

eddz, can you tell me what parts you had to get and what kinda work was involved in the conversion? Thanks in advance

Yup, I called my dealer and he said it would be about 3 grand to have them swapped out. He said it involved two new headlight assemblies, wire harnesses, a new ECU, and the switch that goes in one of the blanks next to the steering wheel.

^^ Yea i'd like to do that too, but no one has wrote a DIY yet or built aftermarket ones that we can buy. Whoever does it first will make a lot of money.

I personally don't like the idea of retro-fitting... I prefer to have the OEM look.

Any of you guys interested in a Group Buy for the SSS/MR headlights?

If there is enough interest maybe we can ask a vendor to find out the most cost-effective way of doing the conversion and supply the parts as a package...

I'm thinking something like a 9006 to D2S harness & aftermarket non-rebased D2S HID kit to Factory SSS/MR Headlight Housing

Would this work?

$3K?!! That's retarded. I say do your own aftermarket ballasts and bulbs and wait until someone offers aftermarket projector kits that are more reasonable. I just think the GSR headlights look lame, EVO IX's had projector headlights, even in the RS, that look very nice, I don't know why they had to cheap out on the X. I wanted HID's but I didn't want any other options.

Why don't you like the idea of retro-fitting? Yes OEM look does look nice but all retro-fitting is taking the OME headlight apart & retro fitting the projectors and shrouds.... If you find the right person that do retro-fitting it will look like OEM or better

Just curious how much is NON HID headlight going for? does anybody know?
