Quick Install: Nisei 1PC UICP with Front Bumper on

I installed my Nisei 1pc UICP tonite. Install was very straight forward and the fitment was on the spot! I did the install without taking the bumper. Here is quick step by step process I did.

1.) Remove the plastic cover.

2.) Loosen all the clamps on the rubber tube. Then slowly twist the aluminum tubes off the rubber tubes.

Remove two bolts holding the stock UICP to the front frame

View of the stock pieces taken off

3.) Re-use the rubber bushing from the stock pipes

Then pop it back on the Nisei UICP

To install, just do steps backward.

Here is the finish product

Thats it! Enjoy and hopefully someone can use this. Let me know if you have any questions!

It looks like you UIP is way to far to the right, too close to the airbox. Seems like it should be about an inch closer to the valve cover-cover. It looks really good anyway. I got one question with a one piece UIP won't it or the mounting become damaged over time from the engine torquing and rocking back and forth under acceleration? Isn't this why the factory one is made to flex? Just wondering, I could be way off base.....

interesting to note that you dont have to remove the snorkel to take the plastic cover off.

are you going to the april 4th meet? would be interesting to see your X with all the parts you have been gobbling up.

I did the install last night and it was pretty straight forward. The factory clamps were a ***** to get off.

I don't know how tight the supplied hoses and clamps should be tightened down, but once I hit boost I heard a noise similar to when you let air out of a balloon closest to the firewall. I retightened everything down again so hopefully this will work.

make sure you don't use a flat head to tighten down the clamps. although the clamps allow it, if you use the 8mm socket head (i think it was 8mm at least) to tighten it down, it goes quite a lot further than with just a flat head. if you look at the oem clamps, they tightened it down until the flex hose creased. that's your cue on the hose clamps - tighten it down until they start creasing into the hose couplers.

the op's install looks like it's a bit off the mark, as the pipe is angled a bit far to the airbox. you should be able to wiggle it around a bit and make it straight. remember to loosen the bolts in the process as well.

You may just have to push the coupler onto the turbo a bit further which may straighten up your pipe. However I also have the Nisei UICP but the 2 piece version and mine fits the same. I dont like that my pipe dips in quite a bit near the radiator cap and that the plastic shroud doesnt fit that well.

yeah they were 12mm bolts. I figured out the hard way on tightening down the clamps when I realized the factory clamps were creased. Thanks!

Dude it took me almost 20 minutes getting that damn one of the IC, lol. Trick was to get a little bit started and use your fingertips to grab the bottom to give it some help and whallah

why would you want to reuse the rubber coupler? are they better than the ones provided by nisei? not to mention they look so much better than the black rubber pieces.

oh well mine's cut up already as i didnt like all the wiggling of the intercooler just trying to get it off and figured i would never put the stock UICP anyways.

Some people have boost leaks with the balloon style nisei couplers and they go back to the stock style couplers or even the stock couplers, the balloon part WILL expand under boost but you would want it to with the 1 pc UIP to allow flex in the pipe from motor torque roll under hard throttle. The factory couplers come off if you remove the hose clamp completely and then twist the coupler, comes off in a few seconds that way.

bingo. they just need to be twisted. i found out when i was swapping out the FMIC. couldn't take it out no matter how i pulled it, and then a bit of twisting popped it loose instantly. i felt stupid

as for the balloon couplers, i actually used my own coupler on the IC side, and used the balloon clamp on the turbo side. for some reason the balloon coupler on the IC side wouldn't allow me to seat the pipe properly, so i used a regular hose coupler and it worked perfectly. expanding should really be a non-issue; considering the quality of the material, i doubt it would expand very much if at all. they can flex, but are much more harder than oem flex hose as well. leaks should not be contributed to the balloon portion of their clamps, as it's always related to clamps that are not tightened properly.
