Remove front/down pipe (not dump)

Hi Guys,

Anyone got any tips for removing the frontpipe (the pipe the 02 sensor goes into)?

Can I remove it whilst leaving the cat inplace or do I need to pull the cat out as well?

Cheers
D.

You can leave the cat in place...Unbolt the spring loaded bolts from the 02 housing and then unbolt the last 2 where it meets the cat. It's pretty straightforward. It is easier to get down there if you remove the strut tower brace just an FYI.

ok.

I was just going todo everything from under the car - use a _long_ extension bar etc...

Or do you mean the brace under the car?

Hey, I have done this 6 or 7 times. first get the o2 sensor out, is much easier to remove when the downpipe is attached to the car. Spray all the bolts with PB blaster (I did not need it but some others have). Get a 14mm (i think) socket and two long extentions with a ratchet. 2 bolts on the top of the downpipe and 2 near the cat.

You do not need to remove the Cat.
