Basically you squeeze the top (gold) part of the bov inward. I used a large c-clamp. There is a spring inside and you are basically putting extra tension of the spring, this takes more vacuum to open the BOV. I did this on my IX and while it did hold more pressure at redline, I got more partial throttle flutter.

You CAN crush it and will work wonders, but getting a new one will work as well or even better, depending what ones you go with and how much boost you plan doing.

I never did the crush IX bov nor had it, but having a new (Synapse) one was working wonders.

FYI just crush it by 2mm. Take before/after measurements so you know how much to crush it, and compress it in steps so you don't overdo it. You don't want to crush it too much.

I crushed mine a while ago. It only held about 22-23PSI max before the crush and now I'm getting the 25-26 that I'm tuned for. I didn't really notice any more partial throttle flutter either.

You know the stock bov can handle plenty of boost right? Just get a tuner or tune it yourself.

This reminds me of the wastegate mod.

You're better off just tuning your car than manipulating the parts. It seems ghetto.
