That is the part I was talking about (the plunger on the right side). It slides side to side loosely on my glove box. I wrapped the pin with velvet so it doesn't slid so easily now.

Diy

So Is there a DIY on getting to, and removing this rear deck panel? It's apparent the rear seat comes off. I have a BIG problem with the low Bass (from the subwoofer, and things rattling back there. Any help or links would be much appreciated!!!

Also I found that the majority of the rear rattle comes from the passenger side part, its actually the small portion that hangs down located behind the rear seat. SEE PICTURE BELOW.

After carpeting the rear deck i used dynamat on the small portion that hangs down. i just had some left over from an installation i did a while back, i took small strips and put them where i noted the rattle would come from (simply hit the rear deck and listen for the rattle).
the picture below shows where my rattle came from.

Have had 0 problems since, previously i had a pair of pants laying on the rear deck (dont ask i think i meant ot take them to the cleaners but forgot) and a shirt wedged in between the rear deck and the rear window to eliminate the rattle.

edit.

Thats where my rattle was coming from especially with an aftermarket exhaust.

Thanks again for posting this! I got the same felt pictures in the first post and am hoping this takes care of my remaining rattles from the glovebox area.

I also used felt on the plastic panel that sits under the glovebox.

Anybody know anything for the rattle around the steering column or gauge cluster. Also my driver door rattles when i hit bumps, it almost sounds as if my window is down and is rattling in the door but my window is up. This is some bull**** i just bought my car, it has 1700 mi and its rattling like all over the place. My evo 8 didnt rattle at all compared to this.

check to see if you have coins or any object in your door compartment. I cleaned out both door compartments I have no more issue with door rattle.

^I know exactly what you mean. My steering column and gauge cluster rattle way too much for having less than 1500 miles on my new X. Keep me posted if you find yourself a fix... It honestly drives me crazy. I realize this isn't a luxury car, but that is still no excuse to have all of these various noises in brand a new vehicle.

Excellent tip on the glove box fix btw. I purchased the exact same felt, as well, and I went crazy on the glove box compartment. Works great!

Bringing the thread back from the dead.

I have the same problem. I got the rear seat out but I can't figure out how to remove the rear deck. All I see are the two tabs on the front holding it down.

Help!
