Question Another silly HID question

2011 WW X GSR

Bought a set of depo factory look projectors, happy with them.

But i can't stand nor see for crap with the composite bulbs.

So I'm in the market for an HID conv. kit.

Did a little bit of reading/research but I'm a little hesitant to buy as I don't know the exact wattage/bulb type specifically for my X.

I do know it is not a DRL setup (thank god), but I don't sit at ease with what most companies state as for the legit types.

IE: 35w, 55w, D2, 9006 etc...

Anyone able to shed a little light on the situation, or even have a recommendation?

I was looking into a kit from DDM but I want to make sure I have the right type/style for the evo before I play the return because i ordered the wrong type game .

Appreciate the help guys and gals!

I really hope you're installing these HID's into projector housings.

You can get most of your answers by just googling "HID Faq"

35w/55w = visible difference in how bright they are. 55w obviously is brighter, but it also burns hotter and many people worry that the increased heat/energy will damage their housings/other things.

Most HID kits are for off-road use only.

IIRC, our bulb size is D2S, bixenon.

If you're buying a kit from DDM, just give them a call and ask them. They'd be more than happy to answer all your questions and help you choose the correct kit.

Best place for hids hands down a bit pricier than your regular ebays but way better quality

In my experience the 35w last longer than 55w. One of my 35w ballast on my IS250 finally died after 7 years of use while my 55w one from my CX-5 burned out after 2 years. I probably got unlucky though as they should last more than 2 years regardless.
