Lancer ES X CVT to manual??

Here's the deal, I'm a rookie. I have barely a clue what I'm doing. I want to swap out that GOD AWFUL CVT with a true 5 speed. Is there any way I can do that? If so, what do I need, and how? I do have someone with plenty of knowledge on the topic, but he's not sure about this job specifically. Please help?

I don't think it would be much different than any other car. You'll obviously need the trans, the interior trim for the shifter, the shifter assembly, shift linkages, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, new wiring harness, clutch, etc. The only thing I'm not sure about is how the car will accept the absence of a transmission computer. I know the ETACS will update itself based on the car its in so I'm not sure if its the same with the trans.

So basically, just find a donor car and roll with it. What about the ECU?

Thats where my knowledge comes to an end lol. You would either need the M/T wiring harness, or the M/T ECU and accompanying immobilizer etc..

If the transmission connects to the ECU directly, I think it needs the M/T ECU. But if the trans connects to a TCM, you would only need the TCM.

It would be a lot easier and cheaper just to trade the car in and get a manual..
