love9sick - I believe manufacturers recommended breakin was 600 miles, but IMHO this is a myth, as many will tell you, and that beating it hard right from the get-go or waiting 600-1000 miles there is really no difference. As for the hesitation or "dying" after about 6k, I have the same problem... and most are saying that it is the pig rich condition coupled with the boost taper that creates this feeling, your just going to HAVE to mod it I can't wait to mod, thats one thing I missed so much about my VIII, the modding!

That is what I thought more or less. Still waited it till 1k miles though. Tomorrow when the car is warmed I am gonna stretch its legs a little bit. If you are right and the mods will fix some of this boost taper and rich combustion than no sweat...looks like I have a date with AMS in a couple hundred miles. Does your car after 5-6 thousand feel like it is sputtering? this weird feeling under the wheels? I think it is the traction control keeping up or something...I have no clue...it is a part of it..maybe the 4 wheel drive. I think it may just be more of the running rich problem. Thanks.

Hows the C6 vette?

It isn't even worth revving it past that.

Also it has a rough idle, is that normal. It isn't huge but you can notice the RPM needle fidget a little. The engine is suppsed to make that ticking sound too right? My friend said it is the timing belts and it is normal.

Sorry guys, new car paranoia.
What you need is AMS/Buschur FMIC, IC pipes, exhaust, MAF pipe, cone filter kit, MBC. That will solve all those problems

Hows that stuff help that weird pull?

How about a Intake/mbc/exhaust?

I was just making a funny but still you should get all those parts (~85-100hp not even tuned!!!). Stock turbo cars seem to fall flat after 5k or so especially towards redline since they are generally rich. Also, the stock boost solenoid ( even though apparently better than any previous Evo) can still taper off boost. I have also read that the car is a different beast after break in. I would say give her until 1000k. If you need helping breaking it in, let me know

welcome to the club, Nice X, i like the stock kit, but im waiting to see what else comes out, I also have to say nice crib!!! and yeah i totally noticed the loss of power after 5 also, i have almost 1700 mls now and it feels like it revs more smoothly and the loss of power does not feel as significant but no matter what you will feel that a little because the boost pressure does decrease when you get closer to the redline, enjoy ur X, i know i am
