Very nice, Wish there was a little more finish on the fender brackets though, the gold bolts with washers seem a bit outta place

Thanks for the review glad you like them

Regarding the washer and bolts you can always buy different colors ones at any hardware shop

I will be putting these hood dampers on our website in a few minutes.

Thanks,
Derek

That is correct. I actualy took mine out and removed the plastic clip that holds it in place and it looks clean!

Hood dampers are probably my favorite "mod" so far. I love the fact that I don't have to use the ugly steel rod to hold my hood up anymore. I do think the car should have come from the factory with dampers though.

I have Gruppe-S carbon fiber dampers by the way, which are a universal fit for Evos 8, 9, and 10. They work great, but I do have to say the Rexpeed ones look to be a better fit since they are made specifically for the X.

I know this is the Evo X forum, but I just have to ask: would these dampers fit on an 08 Lancer ES?

Once the OP gives me the ok to see if they fit for our cars 08+ lancers then this will be my next mod since it isn't that expensive.

I like this mod, but I have a question how does the hood feel when shutting? does it feel like its binding at all? or hard to shut?

It's easier to close, you just drop it half way down and the dampers close it for you. When you first start to close the hood from the top, I've gone real slow to start compressing the dampers, once you get them going it's easy to close.

Opening it is different. You have to be careful or the hood will "shoot up". I don't know if it's because the hood is so light, but you have to grab the hood until the dampers fully open or the hood will open very fast until the dampers stop it.

I'll have a definite answer on the lancer fitment later on tonight.

so just to clarify, this isn't like the stock hood pole where you have to unhook from it's holder, lift hood, then "hook" into the bonnet hole again? ie. it's just a simple open-close affair without having to touch the dampers any more? ie. no hook-unhook or anything of the sort?

stock hood pole is no longer needed just lift the hood and the dampers will support the hood one hand operation
