well it depends on who your talking to. some people see the evo as a lancer with Turbo,AWD, and a widebody kit which is basically true along with other small things. but that debate can go on forever just like how the RA is supposedly a detuned evo and closer similarities to the evo than lancer
The Rallyart also does not have the same chassis, drivetrain, or body panels. It is still a nice car though.

I have an older Evo and I took the Evolution portion of the "Lancer Evolution" badge off and left Lancer. Then I put the UK wide Evolution 8 badge on. I'd never take the three diamond logo off. That would make it too bland and I'm not ashamed at all about it being a Mitsubishi. The logo looks really good amongts car logos IMO, very clean and timeless.

If I order take out and they ask what car I'll be driving, I just say "white lancer" or "white Mitsubishi Lancer". If I said "white (Mitsubishi) Evo" I'm usually responsed with a "Huh? What?"

I don't see people with Audi RS4, or people with M3 complaining how their model looks like the garden variety version.
Maybe not, but drivng a base Audi or BMW carries more status then driving a base Mitsubishi. I have also seen people who drive a base S-class or 7-series take their numbers off so as to look like a S550/600/550i/760il and not a 320 or 528 or so on.

Maybe Mitsubishi should do a "Nissan" & cut the line between the base model & performance model like they did with the GT-R R35, no more skyline, & not even the nissan badge on the car, at least not on the outside.
Interesting idea, but I think someone else owns the name "Evolution" If its Harley maybe a deal could be struck since no one would confuse a car and bike, but I'm not sure who does. Also this allows Mitsu to add Evo sales in with other Lancer sales which is important for manufacturers. For instance, Toyota had the Camry Solara and has the Corolla Matrix.

So what happens when you get in a crash and your turbo and intercooler get messed up? Those aren't part of a regular Lancer, and an adjuster should not include them if they are broken and your car is covered as a regular Lancer. Unless you have some tricky thing set-up or coverage for mods and they count those as mods to your base Lancer.

Also, I de-badged the Lancer off my Evo VIII. I didn't call it a Lancer Evolution, it had nothing to do with seeming like a Lancer, even though back when I originally got it (May of '04, back when they were still new) I got "Oh where'd you get that body kit for your Lancer, it looks really cool?" all the time! Didn't bother me, it was more fun explaining it to people.

Although I'll also be taking off the "Mitsu" and "Lancer" badges.

How about putting a badge "Ralliart Evolution" like Mugen S2000 or Nismo 350Z or shall we put "Ralliart Lancer Evolution"?

Do we really have to detach or separate evo owners from the regular lancer owners?

NO!

We are all brothers......
besides you don't need badges to tell the difference between a Lancer and a Lancer EVO. The Lancer is the one in the rear view mirror.
