Take apart doors to get window tint?
I was just at the window tinting shop and they told me that they need to take the doors apart to put felt on the inside of the weather stripping. The factory weather stripping does not have felt. The tinter feels that without putting felt on the inside of the weatherstrip it will scratch any tint I have installed.
Is this true/probable?

Yup it true, https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...light=moleskin
Mine pretty much got the long scratches in em...I need to install moleskin this spring and get tint redone, if the tint shop you going to is offering that, let em do it..Just make sure that all they do.

completely true, although they dont NEED to take the door apart but they will need to install felt, mole hair, or something of that nature to protect the tint from scratches. the x has a rubber piece on the top of the door that touches the window when it goes up and down. if you dont put something in there any dirt or anything can actually scratch the window tint. i had to get my window tint redone because when i first got it tinted (feb 08) they didnt put this on and every window was scratched with in 4 months. but my tinter did NOT take the door apart. i would not have let him do that to a brand new car. there are other ways to fix this issue.

i installed moleskins on mine and it was easy. The doors come off with like 3 screws and a bunch of plastic snaps. Probably took me an hour total, but the first one took 30 mins as I was trying to figure out wtf I was doing. No rattles afterwards either.

So it acts loose? Is it really a problem? I'm looking to get this done because, even with felt, I'm getting scratches.
