I have used car soap and water for 25 plus years, if i have tar or some other garbage stuck on there i use goo gone. Regardless of what other products claim none are safer for your wheels (and calipers) than car soap and water.

I use griots wheel cleaner...they claim it's approved by BBS and shouldn't cause any damage to your wheels, but who knows. They always look clean when I get done and that's all that matters to me.

Simple Green sprayed at full strength sprayed on a cool dry rim, letting it soak for 10 minutes or so, then spraying with a hard stream of water will get most of the brake dust off. The rest still requires soap & light wiping.

Simple green is the best I use it on the rims engine bay on my bike everything. It's not harsh on the wheels

Simple Green will kill the finish on your wheels and brembos. P21S is good stuff, but hard to get in a pinch. I hear Griotts Garage stuff is being sold in some autoparts stores, but I'm not sure which one, but for a good OTC product Eagle one A2Z wheel cleaner is the best. I've been detailing cars for close to 5 years and its what I use in a pinch.

Just FYI there is a detailing forum on here now as well.

Car soap and water all the way. It takes a little more effort, but isn't your car worth it?!?!
