Question Wheels- Advan RZ's

Hello folk's,
I have just purchased my first Evo, a Rally Red 2008 MR. I am so pumped I can't wait to get up and drive to work in the mornings! Already I have an exhaust, intake and coil-overs ordered but I am having a dillema with my wheel choice. Advan RZ's are the one, but I can't decide betwwen 19 in Bronze or 18 Dark gun metallic? The 18's are more motosport looking and the 19's I think would just be BadAss. I am looking for some input and hopefully some photo's with these wheels on your cars. Plus if fender rolling was needed with your offset. I appreciate any input someone has to give, I am for sure a newbie to Evo's.

cheers,
CD

If you're going to track your car, get the 18s. They are lighter. If you are just going to bling your car, get 19s. /endthread

I agree with you... I think people that run 19's aren't really into performance a ton though.

Nothing wrong with using 19s in a performance setup IMO. Plenty of high end performance cars come with 19s stock and 19s fit on this car with no modification whatsoever. 19s do require a bit more care in daily driving, but I doubt you will feel the 1.5 lb increase in weight per wheel over the 18s.

If you are going to track your car and really care about weight to that degree, don't go with Advans. Stock BBS on the MRs are lighter and Volks are also lighter.

Bronze on RR is a winning combination.

You aren't just decreasing 6lbs of weight on the car, but 6lbs of drivetrain weight. I definitely felt it on my VIII. I'm still running stock BBS on my MR.

But doesn't the BBS offset (+38mm) make it a poor choice for the track?

Off topic... what are our BBS wheels? 18x9?

I completely understand that unsprung weight has a greater impact. I'd be interested to see the weight differences with tires mounted.

Nevertheless, Advans are the wrong choice if 1.5lb per wheel is something you can feel or see in performance numbers. I might feel the difference when the weight difference reaches about 20% or greater, but at 5-10%, I just don't feel it. If anything I just feel the benefits of running a little less rubber.

99% of people on here don't track there cars often. If you have money for the 19's go for it, I think 18's look small on the X, just like 17s look small on the evo 8/9s. I think the unsprung weight is negligible on the street.

How are your roads? DDing on my 19s is not a major worry for me, but might be for you. I live in CA so the roads don't get ravaged by bad weather. Agree with Sleestack that weight should not be your primary concern unless you plan to compete, so choose the option that best suits what you're going to use the car for

Thanks for all the Replies! I should have said I am getting track wheels later and leaving my BBS's for winter wheels. So these wheels are purely for having some fun on the street in the summer'ish months. I am 90% sure I'm going 19' Bronze. Roads here are good and I will only be in the gravel 5-10% of the time. Anybody out there have a Rally Red with 19" bronze RZ's, I know I'm getting a little demanding, sorry it's my OCD. Thank's again for the responses and everybody have a great weekend.
cheers,
CD

Advan RZ 19x10 +25 with rear fender rolled. Gunmetal although in red, the gold RZ's would look good too.

Thats very subjective. 17's on 8/9 look great to me. They give a meaty look that I love.
