Is this clearcoat peel??
Is this clearcoat peel??
Just noticed this on my driver side door...it looks like clearcoat peel or maybe wax peel?
If you run your finger over the edges you can feel a slight raise.

I dont think he is asking about the orange peel, seems like he is pointing out the white lines in the photo.
You're either talking about "orange peel" where the finish on the paint resembles the bumps on the skin of an orange. Or the scratches in the clearcoat. Either way those scratches look deep enough that they would need to be wetsanded out and the only way to remove orange peel is by wetsanding the entire car. I wouldn't worry about orange peel as it's common on pretty much every car you see.

The scratches look like they aren't past the clear coat. You could probably buff it out with a mild polish but be careful as someone has said as it won't take much to burn through to the paint. Japanese water based paint FTL.
You'd need to level the peel with wetsanding, then compound, then polish, then wax/seal. I wouldn't do this on an EVO because of thin paint.
However, many Corvette owners (a lot of ZO6 guys) will have this done professionally since GM tends to lay the paint on a lot thicker.

No polish or compounding will take out orange peel without ruining the paint job.

i have had the same "lines" on previous japanese cars (all black) they are usually spider webbing which has dried in the sunlight on the car or you have driven over some chewing gum on the road - get it off asap its a C*** to get out when its been there for a while.
The paint has definately got "orange peel" you wont really be able to do anything about it unless you can use a very light grade pad and orbital polisher. anything done by hand will only make it worse.
the reason for this is polishing by hand doesnt create enough heat/friction on the surface of the paint to clear off any of the impurities which come from soap/cleaning your car.
