I've always made sure the surfaces where the pads and tongues meet were thoroughly cleaned and sealed with some paint sealant or wax. Then I clean the little pads from the rack feet and the tongues from the rack mounts themselves.

I plan to order some clear bra and stick it to specific area's where the rubber feet meet the 1/4 panel and where the metal tongues grab on inside of the door openings.

Haha, was about to post mine up as well. Finally got my Yakima rack and kayaks. Not bad at all, used the Yakima hood anchors for front and rear tie-downs.

Got the fairing on, very happy with my setup.

Equipment used: Yakima Q towers, Q99 clips, 48" roundbars, 44" fairing, JayLow Kayak carriers, SKS locks on everything, Yakima hood anchors, Emotion 10 Kayaks. Cheers!

I also have a EU market GSR and would like to know what Thule model you have for the mounts. How do you remove the mounting covers?
