infrared evo x

My girl purchased an infrared camera recently and she wanted to test it out.. so we took a drive out to Red Rock Canyon and took some quick shots. Purchased the car in March so 100% stock still.. I have a set of Swift Spec-R's in my garage waiting to be installed, just waiting on the weather to get a little cooler. ENJOY!

Pics look good. But... That is not an infrared camera. Infrared cameras take pics of heat signatures. For instance, you drive the crap out if your car. Stop, get out and take pic with ir camera. The cooler parts will be whitish colors. The warmer/hotter parts on the car, the redder they are in the pic. Does that make sense. Reason I'm saying this is I hope someone didnt sell you something it's not. But good pics with the camera.

AAHH!!! that makes sense. i didn't try that at all, so maybe next time, but her camera from my understanding had a firmware change. our first time really using it so next time we'll try and take some rotor shots after some intense braking!

^^^ that is true. im in the army and didnt think about those types of cameras being available to cibvilian population. there is actually 3 types of thermo pics, the ones most people see... yellow to red to display different levels of heat. the ones above are supposed to be used at night. one is white hot or black hot. which ever is chosen the hot parts are that color. if you go out and take pics at night you'll see whati mean but no flash. the ones above are white hot. sorry i wasnt thinking anyone could get this type of camera. who knew??

Yeah man my understanding is that this SLR she has had a firmware hack to make it infrared. So you're saying her camera should be used at night?

Theoretically yes, if it works like military night vision. Not sure why a white hot ability would only be available for only daylight. Try drivin your car, go to a place with low to no outside light. Like no street lights, porch lights, ect. Then look thru camera. If it works whatever is hot will show up white. What camera is this?

you would need a thermographic camera for what are talking about.

It's a black and white pic more than an infrared pic

This topic is a bit misleading...but its ok. Ill explain,

The wavelength of Infrared Radiation is very robust.
There is the near infrared, mid range, and far infrared regions.

Infrared photography is taken at near-infrared (NIR).
With a wavelength of a little above 700nm, so the wavelength is slightly
past the visible spectrum of light and gives an interesting filter for photography. (above images)

Thermographic imagery (Heat signatures) are taken at the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) and
far-infrared (FIR) wavelength.

Yes what he said was partially correct, it is infrared imagery, however its
not the same remote sensing device that we are use to hearing about..
a thermal image that illustrates the temperature changes on a given video/image.

If you want to see some really good examples of infrared photography check out this link:
