ADVAN replacements?

I have the worst luck. At some point in the past day or two, I managed to get a large screw through the tread of my brand new X's ADVANs. A place in town was able to repair it as a temporary fix that's safe for casual driving, but as you're probably aware this voids its speed rating. I was planning on getting it on the track this summer, and would rather not risk a blow-out.

Do I have any options? Do I need to replace all 4? This is my first AWD car, so I don't know the tire rules, and that seems like a real possibility. I have less than 800 miles on the car at this point. It seems I could probably just replace the bad one given the age, but I don't want to do any long-term damage if that's a possibility.

If I have to replace them in pairs or as a set, it might be better to toss the Yokos altogether given their cost.

You can replace just one with such minimal wear.

I seriously doubt getting a screw in your tire is covered under any type of warranty. That's why there's road hazard insurance available when you buy new tires.

You never know, it's worth a shot. Subaru has replaced some crazy stuff under warranty.

Read the warrenty for the tires. It is quite rediculous. 1 year warrenty for tread wear. If your car has no tread left it is to be replaced. I'll have to check but I'm sure that the tires are covered up to 20k road hazards. I know my RSX did.

Go check with the dealer first but my replacements are going to be INVO NITTO tires, when I ruin these of course.

this is a mitsubishi, your warranty is voided as soon as you drive off the dealer lot.

just a tip, nitto invo has too much circumferential grooves = less rubber, less traction. I'll stick with the yokohama advan line of tires as replacement. goodluck

Caught a flat myself today and can't seem to find a replacement tire anywhere. I guess I'll try and see if the dealer would warranty it but I wont hold my breathe.

why dont you have it patched from the inside? when they repaired it did they just plug it? Patching from the inside involves them removing the tire and placing a patch from the inside where the puncture entered.. That would keep your speed rating.

They patched from the inside and then repaired the outside.

Whether the speed rating is voided depends on the manufacturer. For example, any repair voids a Dunlop speed rating, but a repair following the proper repair procedure does not void a Goodyear speed rating.

I can't find Yokohama's stance on repairs on their site, though, and this service center sells them and told me the speed rating was voided. I would imagine they know Yokohama's policies, but I could be wrong.
