Unhappy Replacing the Ball Joint boot!

Is the Ball joint boot replaceable??? I didnt even get a chance to get a good look at it. But I Know for sure it's ripped. The mechanical function is still good. Im sure installing it isnt hard. Is there a specific tool used?? or is it one of those things where you just put it on and put the rest of the parts back on and it will install itself?? or is it easy enouigh to a point where you can just slide it in??? I just usually replace the whole thing butin this case, working with an aluminum control arm is very risky.

just take your wheel off and remove the CV boot. Then attempt to dismantle the ball joint, If you cannot then you know your answer. If you can just take parts needing replacing to the dealership and order and OEM replacement. problem solved

the Evo VIII/IX FSM talked about replacing the boot and the tool needed. Check the X FSM, I am sure its the same. If your balljoint goes out, then you have to replace arm since mitsu does not sell balljoints separately (used to sell them in DSM days). Its a freakin racket to take our money. If moog or someone else came up with a balljoint, they could make a ton esp. for people who race these cars. Some vendor should be able to pull this off too...

Install a whiteline roll center correction kit, it includes new ball joints.

If you can find the boot (ie. from someone that's installed the kit, I tossed mine unfortunately) then you just have to pull the wheel, pull a nut and bolt, pop the ball joint out, pull the boot up and off and then replace it and reverse the process to reinstall.

Or are you talking about another ball joint somewhere?

yeah if you cant replace the boots individually then you might as well install the whiteline roll center kit...

I haven't been under the X yet, is there only 1 set of balljoints on the car? I wish someone also came out with better spherical's for the suspension. Lots of the VIII/IX arms has sphericals which I have heard is bad to replace with poly bushings and I don't think anyone made any, actually! I had replace every bushing I could on my VIII with whiteline and Perrin caster (PSRS).
