Thanks for the heads up. You just might have stopped me from buying the KW3's... Because I do drive exactly the conditions you wrote about - mountain twisties with a ton of bumps and holes. My plan originally was KW V3's with ClubSport tops (I dunno what u call it in english - top mount/heads). Basically I'd take the whole clubsport version if it wasn't so awfully loud.. (Heard them in a modded porsche turbo over a loud exhaust).

The AMR Eng. aren't TUV certified right?
If they aren't, I'm off looking for new coilovers again... FAIL. You ruined my day dude.

Previous settings I had in mind were Billsteins PSS9's but... Heh... I hate EU laws. I mean look at it like this: I can't put on öhlins for 15k $ because they don't have a TÜV certificate, they have a FIA homologation bu hey, who are they to say what's good right? On the other hand, the almighty HIGH END 600$ per set BC Coilvers do have a TÜV certificate.

Damn I'm pi$$ed off. Should stop writing now.

Any suggestions other than KW V3's? Any thoughts on a possible defect on the coilover u blew up? Cause from what I searched around, yours seems to be an isolated case, but the fact is that 90% of the people on EvoM have 500whp, keep their cars in the garage when there's rain and drive 50 mph to work with their ARC intercooler. Rare are the people who put the stuff they paid to the real test. (straight line players excluded, but you're not the ones to comment on coilovers anyway)

Next thought - Eibach Multi-Pro R2. Didn't see if they're TÜV certified tho, but they're Eibachs, even though made in USA, it's a German company... Might have it.
AMR are not tuv certified as far as i know. I honestly never checked.
damn its that strict in Slovenia?

you can get grupe N KW , would be more then enough for those beautiful mountains

but again that considered as a race suspension, so im not sure they will be TUV certified...

i would ask AMR they might have a certificate, hm interesting i never thought of that...
I would ask GTWORX.com they know better the i do. I'm sure they will have some good idea for you. Just make sure express you area for them, Its not a highway 95 in US.

Well, group N coilovers should be about 3 times the price of normal ones?

I'm looking to spend about 2000 euros for the suspension which is approx 2800$ tops.

yeah the groupe N stuff strats well over $5K.

In eu some guys using in they X the TEIN proflex
http://www.tein.co.uk/product/gr_n.html / i think they have for a X too/

Or i would try to get these . In my country guys using them and they say its better then KW .
http://www.ast-suspension.com/index.asp

But the problem is when you need a good STRONG set up , you have to open the valet... I think the AST is over $3600... Fact is most of the coilovers you get around $2-3K is for track use . When they talking about DD, that is mean DD, and not racing on streets.
There for, if you do that, you might ending up like me.
But for sure those coilovers will not less long anyway, if you drive like a maniac on mountain roads.
Which we do

Or you need good insurance like these guys have, if you get a track coilover and try to do a mountain runs like a rally guy with those.

Tein does not have TUV and neither does AST it seems, atleast a quick browse showed me that.

I was set on KW's since I see a lot of ppl praising them, but obviously I was wrong about their driving style. Oh well, MR bilsteins again and some good springs it seems, while saving up a gillion for some öhlins or sth.

And a comment about TUV in Slovenia:
For them, it does't matter what kind of homologation there is for the item - either it has a TÜV certificate or it doesn't. It's that simple.

Want a few nice examples? Here you go:
JRZ suspension that costs more than a small car is not acceptable for me because noone wrote TÜV on it.
I can't have Volk, Advan, AME or any other JDM wheels because noone put a TÜV stamp on them.
I cant put any JDM or US made exhaust on my car because it doesn't have a TÜV homolgation.
I can't use an open air intake because it doesn't have a TÜV.
I can't put in Bride seats in my car because their quality is questionable right - I mean, they don't have a TÜV do they now?

It's ANNOYING AS HELL but it's the way we have it here. So then people often resort to illegal stuff like counterfit TÜV certificates. (Yes my Greddy Ti-C has a TÜV now...)
Sad isn't it...

i was set with the KW as well. I sure thought it will hold up, since i never heard to fail them , also the race was on public tarmac road. Then later /everybody is much smarter after/ they explain to me the valving etc is not suitable for public road racing. Only track, or very smooth surface.
And i dont even ever mentioned, the tire choice for that race was horrible, due the false forecast. I raced on semi slick summer tires, Toyo R1R , in below 0 C and heavy snow and rain. Depended on the elevation.
So the speed wasn't there at all.. Can you imagine if this race been held on dry surface and little warmer? I probably would crash much sooner or totaled the car...

That one guy's experience is a driving style that is closer to me. What do you do with your car? drive it down the street, occasional drag strip launch and an auto-x here and there? He wrote clearly that on the roads like that, the KW's are flawless. He also provided the fact what they don't survive. And I do like to go to bumpy mountain twisties and roads in the woods (gravel) that contain bumps, potholes and jumps.

And yes, the fact the guy almost killed himself because of coilovers is quite an experience worth considering.

I'm running the AST 5100s on my 2010 MR Touring. The components ran about $3700, but that also included camber plates. I believe the AST 5300 components run about $6K. I'm running them on a street setting but have been told they are stellar on the track.

By the way... love your car and what you do with it.

And i'm sure he's the only one to ever travel "bumpy mountain twisties" on KW's

I was wondering how the Evo MR bilsteins with swift springs set up compares to the Bilstein pss9's or kw v3's. I've been running stock struts with swift springs due to a low budget and now they're shot and I can't wait to replace them, I'm just now sure what I want. The Evo VIII is my daily driver with occasional track time and spirited mountain driving. any opinions? Much appreciated

Race rally seutp, but I somehow doubt they have TUV as they seem to be motorsports only.
