This.

If you've got more than a few thousand miles on the set, you really can't replace just one tire; you've got to change all four.

I don't see how your car hates you??? You curbed your rim / tire... not your car...

You got a DUI... not your car...

You modified your exhaust in Cali of all states...

Speeding tickets are generally the driver's falt...

Good luck w/ everything. Start making better decisions and your luck will turn around.

Replace the tire if you're uneasy driving on it.

Usually the first few layers of tread wear off relatively quickly as the tire breaks in which is good since the initial grip of the tires usually feels squirly until that happens. You could see of the tirerack would "shave" the tire down to a lower tread depth so that the diameter more closely matches the rest of them. Good luck with everything and hopefully you will get it all figured out.

+1. You're in an evo, they are already looking for anything to pull you over. Speeding, exhaust (in CA), and dui are pretty good reasons to do so.

First off, make sure you have money for another set of tires(AWD=replace all 4). Then take it to a tire shop and simply have the tire dismounted, and remounted. If the bead holds during the process then it should also be ok for some DD. NOT AUTOX!!! If the bead breaks then you have your answer and you can feel good about finding out before it's too late. If the bead doesn't break, have them rebalance it then throw the baseterd back on!

BTW, if you lived in AZ I'd tell you to swing by the Casa and I'd just eyeball it for you. Any tire expert should be able to do this for you. However, unless you have a friend who is in the industry, plan on any opinion you get from a shop being geared toward selling you a new tire.

Good luck bro.

okay first off I have nobody to blame but myself and the "crazy turbo sounds" for the DUI.

Secondly, the ticket for the modified exhaust ontop of supposedly going 45 in a 35 mph zone is total horse****. I WAS NOT SPEEDING. And this was literally 3 days after getting the DUI, I didnt even have a frickin ID to give to the cop. Give a me a ****ing break. The cop said he didnt have a radar to show me and said he paced me for I kid you not, maybe 3 seconds before flippin his lights on.

Hopefully I can have the tire shaved down like you suggested. We shall see this saturday when I have it looked at.

shaveing a tire down is to shave the tread the part that actually contacts pavement not the sidewall where your damage is done

if you look at the diagram that was left with how the tire is put to gether the tread has many layers the sidewall has much fewer sometimes only two.

shaveing the tire down will not save your tire.

if you read the whole thread you would know that Hiboost is talking about getting the contact patch of the tire to match the OTHER 3 tires. READ!!
