Shock Life for GSR?

Figured I'd ask... I've got 40K on the stockers and I'm about to put on Spec-R's. Should I replace with new KYB's? I don't see any leakage or anything...

If they're good might as well keep them for now. Easy enough to change when/if they go bad.

Depends, how does the handling/ride feel? On my Subarus, the stock KYBs went out around 25-30k miles, but I drove them hard on the Houston roads.

I really like the stock damping, and was at the most looking to add Swift Sports, and figured I'd just keep my eye out for low miled stock struts for sale and pick them up when I see them.

Really though, for the first time, I'm driving a car where I love the stock handling and suspension and afraid to screw it up.

most shocks are nearing the end of their optimal service life by 40k. What does this mean for the daily driver? Probably not much provided the seals aren't leaking.

what makes you say that? my celica back in the days had over 50k miles before i swapped them out with coils and the guy at the shop bought my stock shocks for one of his customers cause it was still good.

the reason i ask is because i'm getting close to the 40k mark on my evo n i have no mula for new shocks right now. sucks...
