Any idea if it is bad juju to have have the notch lined up? other than having to force the bolt obviously?

I got an alignment yesterday with ~-1 camber all the way around and as close to 0 toe as he could get it, and it feels so much more smooth and controlled now around turns.
You absolutely have to have that notch lined up with the bolt. Along with the pinch, it's what holds that joint to the spindle.

there is no way in hell that joint is coming out. notch lined up or not. if not even the amount of force (i know i should have looked closer instead of forcing it, but the hobby shop was closing and i had to be able to drive home)i had to use to get the bolt in, the wieght of the vehicle will keep that ball joint from coming out....right?

Well.....yeah, until the car becomes unloaded, which is unlikely unless you jump it. Do you rally race?

In all seriousness, that notch is there as a safeguard. In the event that the pinch bolt comes loose, it won't just fall out. Personally, I'd take the bolt out, pull out the pin, rotate it the right way, and reinstall.

Heres the pic of the Deck Mechanical Power Roll Centre Adjusters. Guess you can adjust the height of the mounts.

Considering those are $100 more and don't include the tie rod ends, I'd say it's a little pricey. I like the concept though.

Thanks for the info though, after i get under the car the next time, I will redo it.

can i just rotate it, or do i have to press it out and repress? and after i fix it do i have to get another alignment?

The lower ball joint doesnt hold the car up. it locates the wheel laterally. I would be more worried about a turning situation where the other side is using the sway bar to pull on the control arm.

Yes you can rotate it. It has to rotate, otherwise you wouldn't be able to turn.

Has anyone had a shop/alignment shop install these for you? As much as I like doing all my own work, it does seem like something an alignment shop who will be required after doing this install anyway might be able to do this at a minimal cost.

My $.02

If you have a press, do it yourself. If you don't have a press, you don't really have a choice.

Decide right now if you'll be installing some kind of steering-response kit and/or new cylindrical bushings on the front LCA any time soon. If so, do it all at the same time.

I've got this kit sitting in my garage for about 6 months now after lowering with Eibach springs where I noticed a loss in steering response, loss in rotation, and increased under steer. I'll get around to installing it hopefully soon, but if it doesn't at least give back a stock like handling, I'm going to ditch the springs and find used set of MR or SE struts and springs.

The Evo 10 is fantastic stock and with only a mild rear say bar upgrade it was brilliant. I'm even afraid of going too big on wheels with a low offset for fear of screwing up the handling.

I hear you. I worried a bit about this, too, so I did my morning runs (at an autocross) without spacers and the afternoon runs with 15mm spacers. Afternoon was better (and not just because it was warmer). I'd say that there's no problem dropping the offset into the mid-20s.
