Too much or just right?
I was thinking of getting the AST 5200 Coilovers By Vorshlag for my 2010 evo x. I will track the car maybe a few times a year (5 or six track days) maybe a bit more if i have extra cash to blow. :P
So my question is - is it worth dropping 4k in these coilovers when most of the year this will be a daily driver? Will i notice enough benefit at the track and maybe even some in daily driving to make these worth the cost?
thanks!

AST 4100 would probably make more sense. Still very good coilovers, and I don't think you need the more hardcore expensive double adjustable 5200's in my opinion.

On my DSM I went through several singles and then vent to the triples. Street ride was improving at every step even when each of the steps involved stiffer springs along the way. At the end I was using 800/650 F/R and car was still more comfortable on the street then the same car with Koni Yellows and 550/450. On the track, the difference was even greater and the biggest change was in improved assurance that car will do exactly what it was suppose to be doing!
So, from where I stand from, external tanks for rebound on them is the only way to go! Doubles or triples would make difference depending on type of canisters used, but from what I was able to find about ASTs, you can go with doubles and still have high compression set at the right place not to miss it out there.

Have you done track days before. Will you actually be adjusting the suspension to get the maximum out of them. If it were me I would not go that all out for just 5 times a year. I would think you would be better of doing some track days as the car is and then as you become a better driver evaluate what particular aspects of the suspension you feel need improving for your driving style.
