Noob questions about tire sizing. please help

Recently I just purchased a used 2010 evo x, and it comes with stock wheels with winter tires on (bridgestone blizak 235/40/18), so I'm in the market for all season tires and planing to lower the car using swift spring spec r. what size tires should I purchase for it to fit on the stock wheels without rubbing or doing any fender modification? will 245/40/18 fit fine or 245/35/18 is better? is it possible also if I go wider tires at 255/40/18 or 255/35/18? thank you for your input

You can run 255s on the stock rim but thats about as wide as you can go. If your planning on going wider a new set of wheels are needed. As far as the profile.. that's your choice.

I'm not into stance or aggressive setup for now, maybe sometime in the future for now Im planing to lower the car a bit by using swift spec r spring to remove the wheels gap. before pulling the trigger on the new tires, I just want to confirm once again if I were to choose 255/35/18 on the stock wheels, I should be ok with no rubbing or fender modification? thanks again guys. pardon me for my noobness lol

People run wider tires for better traction and for the wheels to look wide from behind. Other than that they are a waste. You will see worse mpg and just pay more for the tires.

Also if you didn't know the first number is width (in mm roughly), second number is height (as a percentage of the width) and third number is wheel size.
