suspension stiffening
Well, I'm not very young, so maybe I'm wrong about what the three 12" things are, but my memory is that the magnets on some sub-woofers are very heavy and I couldn't think of any other explanation for the first post.
ps. a good way to ensure that the files that you downloaded onto the computer owned by whomever you work for are no longer there when you bring the computer back to the office from home is to put the CPU on top of a mondo subwoofer magnet; not that I have ever had any need for this

Having nice sound makes my 30 min trip to work in the morning not suck. My 15in is also removable so if an actual need to remove weight came up, I could! But for my DD, I don't even notice the extra weight.
