Coating a coilover for longevity?
Coating a coilover for longevity?
Has anyone ever done anything to protect their coilovers? If so, what did you do and what product did you use?
I have a set on order, and I'd hate to see the money I spent slowly corrode away. This will see plenty of snow and salt in the winter.
I've heard of Boeshield or LPS3, but those seem to work off a wax coating. This car will see a good amount of track days, and I'm concerned the heat will just melt that stuff and make it a mess.
I had a buddy clear coat his from a rattle can, but something doesn't seem right about that...

From what I understand, you're talking about painting the body of the shocks, plus, maybe, the mounts. If so, let me answer your question with a question: how often has a coilover "died" from corrosion on the outside of the shock or on the surface of the mounts?
I understand what you are saying. But it's so shiny...

This is a clear, rust inhibitor i put on the entire underside of my car before every winter. Would highly recommend
