Air ride?

I really want to get air ride suspension it's a 450 awhp car that is my dd and used for spirited driving. My question is will air ride hold up or should I just do coilovers and what air ride is the best?
Thanks for the help

Air ride is show car junk. If you're looking to spend that much money, stop. And simply purchase some Ohlins RT's and get them properly setup on your car.

Im ordering Air Lift Performance for mine just due to the cost. Airrex, Accuair and some of the bigger names are $6K+. Air ride has come a long way and for people to think it is just for show cars is silly. Air ride technologies has an annual auto x at their big show and all the cars have air ride...

For me, I like to drive my car hard but then also ride slammed so air is the perfect setup for me. It is all about what you want do do. It is your car, your money and at the end of the day it is only your decision that matters.

I never saw any pic/vid/posting of a decent air-ride system on an Evo. Post up if you got proof. Any Evo I saw with air-ride have been Donked. Donked as in comparable to hoopties and handled like a boat.

Yet none of the winning cars at the SCCA nationals are on bags. Airbags are great for cruising, but unless each vehicle has a bag specifically designed for it, the spring rate will never be correct. Yes, any old bag will work and hold the car at the ride height you want, but "spring rate" of the bag is determined by the volume of air that it holds, and I no company spec's a custom bag for every single kit they sell.

^^^^^This. The day that a bagged car of any variety wins Nationals, I'll bend over and grab my ankles Bagged cars have their place and the setups have come a long way since the days of old, but let's be real for a moment. Bagged setups are and always will be mostly show. Doesn't matter how many horses you have under the hood, it's still going handle like a bag full of floppy donkey meat whistles when the rubber meets the road. Don't believe me? How many Nurburgring records have been set on bags..... Don't worry, I'll wait.

I wouldn't be surprised if some AMG car has a nasty quick lap on the "Ring on air suspension. But that's an OEM setup, with specifically designed bags for that vehicle.

Street car will be fine on bags... OP isnt looking for a track only suspension. Im not looking to win any national titles in autox and bags will hold up good. The main thing you have to make sure is that you build your car for you. If bags are what you want, do them. Dont let anyone else tell you what to do with your car or your money.

You're right, it's his money. For most of us though, bags rank up there with vertical doors and underglow neon lighting. Still, more power to him for doing something different I think slammed and cambered cars are the dumbest thing to happen to the automotive scene since the aforementioned mods, but there are thousands of cars following the "clean culture" these days, so apparently real driving enthusiasts are a dying breed. Never understood the purpose of DESTROYING the function of a vehicle for show, but to each their own.

People wonder why the car scene is full of uneducated "enthusiasts"... and why the forums are dying. No one is willing to give an actual answer from true life experiences with a product. People would rather bash, rag on and trash talk to people when they have nothing constructive to actually say. Just a bunch of Internet badasses waiting for the next thing to be posted that they have no idea about...

/\ like this guy... says "air ride is for fagots" but lists tint and a shift knob as "mods", cant spell Pillar and puts spacers on his factory wheels because he cant buy wider wheels to get the "stance" that he wants....

Spend money on quality coilovers with supporting sway bars, center kits etc.
