HID works great in the rain and fog. There is nowhere that HIDs aren't better than normal lights. They provide better lighting in general, and make your car safer to drive in the dark/fog/rain. The only con about them is that aftermarket kits are either WAAAAAAAAY too expensive, or illegal.

Umm, I don't think they are illegal. If they were, why would they come either standard (or optional) on many top-end cars such as Lexuses, etc...

It's the blue xenon bulbs that don't seem as bright during the rain when you're driving. People can get pulled over for blue bulbs. In England, a lot of police cars have HIDs.

One reason why cops dont pull over lexus and bmws is because they are all stock... But yeah, i dont know why they like pulling over modified cars or cars that look fast, then look for a carpart that is illegal... Just sucks........ They juz like hitting on fast japanese cars.....

i heard becuase the temp(Kelven) is too high..and the light cant work that well in the rain, fog all u see is the fogs/rain in frount of you and u cant see the street..so u will better to have a 3000K(regular yellowish light )for fog lights and these lights will shine thru fog/rain/show and 8000K(bright white, blueish) for headlight..and they works best together?
i heard a report that the higher kelven cant pass thru fogs rain or snow..and lower Kelven light can pass thru fogs raini snow easier..but not as bright..

yeah thats why the Lexus IS 300 uses the yellow halogen fogs on the bottom and the HID's in the headlights. the yellow for fog/rain and the regular lights for normal weather.

The reason you got pulled over is because of the super blue tint that xenon bulbs give off. I had a set of those that explicitly said on the package that they were "for offroad use only".

I agree that cops can generally give fast and furious cars a harder time than any BMW or Lexus, but the reasons for that are obvious. It sucks and isn't sensible, but that's why they're called stereotypes.
