RRM Rear Anti Sway Bar Install
RRM Rear Anti Sway Bar Install
If anyone could help me out with the installation of the rear sway bar id much appreciate it. I looked under there myself and it looks pretty much like a bolt on job, but i wanna know if it will mess anything up (like alignment for example) before i start undoing things.
Nope, it will not affect your alignment or anything like that. It's just as simple of a bolt on job as it looks. Just make sure you take a good look at it before you take it off so you know where everything goes when you put it back together.

Torquing EVERY bolt to spec is way overkill. The only things I break out the torque wrench for are the head bolts and lug nuts. Everything else gets tightened until it won't fall off, but not so tight that the bolt breaks off. It's a system that's worked well for me for the last 20 years or so, ever since I picked up a wrench.
I guess it doesn't hurt, but it does take more time, if you can even find a spec for every bolt.
The only thing that's ever fallen off my car was one of the wheels, when the monkey at the tire store didn't torque the lugs. The LF wheel came off while I was on the Interstate, doing about 65-70.
Any time you have anything done where a shop has to take off your wheels, re-torque the lugs yourself when you get the car back. Don't learn this lesson the hard way.

It's not necessary to torque the sway bar. Tighten the endlinks until the bushing is firmly in there (but don't crush it) and tighten the two brackets enough to hold the bar firmly w/o breaking the bolt. It'll be fine.

Mmmkoy, I suppose the sway bar is not a big deal since the car won't crash if it comes loose. But something important, I would always torque. Like the wheels, strut mounting, tie rod ends. Anything that would be DISASTEROUS if it came loose.

A torque wrench is an adjustable wrench, if you need to torque a bolt to 40LBS, then you set the wrench to 40 pounds and tighten the bolt till the wrench starts clicking and not turning the bolt. There are different kinds as well, but they all do the same thing.
