front plate thread #352345234!

and yet I keep posting in them

In illinois I've received tickets for not having it on at all (camaro and evo) and having it in the window (evo).

The best one was when I had it on the airdam on the camaro which is under the nose of the car. I pulled into a gas station and a cop sitting there said I better move that plate because it's too low. Obviously it seemed to be serving it's purpose as he saw it clearly enough to give me **** about it.

What I did was to get vinyl stick on reflective colored letters and numbers color matched to Ohio license plate colors and put them on the grill piece next to the front emplem. It may or may not be legal depending on interpretation of the Ohio license plate statute ation but it at least ishows my intent to comply.

After years and years of driving dealer cars with a dealer plate on the back ONLY..

I have come to the conclusion that the law is stupid. I need an officer to explain why it's mandatory...NOT just that it's the law..

In states with photo radar on the other hand...
I can imagine how important it is!!

in idaho, it's illegal to not have a front plate. $50 ticket, but the state cops are the only ones that really seem to police it. the plate must be visible in the front of the car and a minimum of 12 inches off the ground. dashboard location will get you a ticket if the cop wants. arguement is it's not visible from the front of the car.
no-one can seem to explain to me why dealer cars and loaner cars only need a back one, and why the newer corvettes don't get tickets, just imports....
if you have a "classic" or a "street rod" and can qualify for those plates, you are only required to show a rear plate...have been ticketed for the tinted plexi plates from auto stores on prior vehicles. if they aren't clear, they're illegal too.....

my car was purchased in oregon and doesn't have any of the mounting holes or the bracket for the plate. I'm running until they stop me and going to try and understand the logic behind it. maybe the arguement that the manufacturer didn't put a location for one will work

our wonderful government at work.....
