Tempting....

I've had my evo viii for a year now and I'm tempted to trade it in for the MR, does anyone think it's worth it??

Probably best to do a search. There are a lot of threads out there about the pros and cons and the cost-benefit analysis. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. However, as long as you aren't upside down on your 03, I think it's worth it to trade for the '05 GSR or RS. If you still owe on the 03/04, I wouldn't do it. The difference just isn't there to justify thousands of dollars, more interest, starting your payments over, etc. Just my .02.

My opinions are along the same lines of EVOTEXAS'. I wouldn't do it. I'd rather mod my '04 and have it performing better than an MR...just without the metallic paint and other things.

i totally agree with the other posts. sure owning an mr would be sweet, and it may hold its value a little bit more than regular evo's but i couldve waited for the MR, but didnt really want to. it isnt that much more stuff that i would want, maybe the 6-speed, but no one really knows if it will hold up, other than that the grey would be sweet, not worth the dealer markup, and the hassle of buying a new car. imho though. its your dough, not ours. good luck.

yeah, after thinking about it...I agree with you guys. I don't want to start paying the car all over again. Probably spent more than 10k on it for the first year. I'll just deck it out real nice.

not worth it...the only thing that interested me bout MR is the "exclusiveness" kinda thing and the 6-spd...but then again, 6spd isn't always superior to the 5spd (less shifting to do) and all the MR extras (shocks, turbo, acd, etc) doesn't justify the extra $$$...like for instance, the 03/04s have perfectly capable and proven turbos already (you can upgrade anyway to much better turbos out there) and not all of us need the acd or helix (i think) differential since not all of us do autox (at least i dont)...besides, the older evos still is an attention hogger anyway...

i think that it isnt worth it.you could mod up your evo and make look better and perform better and youll be saving a whole lot of money.rather than get the mr and mod it.but thats my 2cents

Don't get me wrong or nothing, MRs own me...but I don't see how it would make that much of a difference. I'd just keep the one you have and mod it

I agree with everyone else MR is a sweet car but your ganna lose around 8-10 grand probly if you trade maybe more (value lost on your car + depreciation of the MR when you drive it off the lot)

You might want to consider the 05 RS or GS-R as the EVO's across the board get:

Bigger Turbo 276 H.P./286 Torque
ACD

The MR adds:
Available Grey Paint
6 Speed (unknown reliability)
BBS Rims
Aluminum Roof Panel
Extra Extra Accessories
Bilstein Shocks
ETC...

Money is Money so if you can afford to do it, then do it. Otherwise, go to the dealer and find out how much you are going to lose then take that money and dump it into your car.

The MR is nice and all, but I don't think it's worth it, unless you just have money to blow. I'll be keeping my 03'

I don't know about everyone else, but the mr was just kinda like an impulse feeling. I thought about it, but I figure I'm 19, I own a 30,000 dollar sports car, and I have to give up half of what I make a month to pay it off. I don't really need another ten grand to pay off. I'll keep my evo, and when the time comes to buy a new car, then I can give into that impulse.

It is tempting, but try and be happy with what you have. you'd be moving up 5 hp and an extra gear for about 5 grand, plus whatever dealer markup they might get you to pay. Spend that much money on your current car, it will look, and perform better.
