i was driving to Smogrunner's house and i was on the freeway when i shifted into 5Th and then GRRRRRR.... it grinded... then i downshifted just to see what the heck was going on .. and shifted into 5Th again and it grinds again.. so i was worried and well i just shift really slow into 5th and it wont do it. it never grinded in 5th and iam a little worried. should i be? should i do something about it?

P.S. have 2900 miles and NO Launches or any Racing.

 

search. covered often- may be a recall item by now. It's your 5th gear synchro. Only be worried if you like to drive in 5th

 

bahaha. I had the same problem. It just went away. prolly just grinded the syncro to ****...

 

The dealer in Kentucky fixed the 2nd and 5th syncro for the previous owner of my EVO and my local dealer in TN is now going to fix my 2nd gear grind. Since I am at 31k miles, I convinced him to replace all the syncros with new. They were very cool about it...surprisingly.
