EVO MR or GTO 04

Yes, well put. I looked into the GTO and for a V8, I just wasn't impressed with the horses', ft torque, handling, quarter mile time. Plus American cars seem to have a much shorter life span...plus how could I say no to all wheel drive!!!
I sold my Evo 4 months ago..... I am looking to get anothe sports car in a few months.... I am contemplating the new 05 GTO.... the interior is 1000 times better... the exterior is "PICK EM"... the GTO is good at being more "mature" and the "EVO" is a bit flamboyant (mainly the wing, stock taillights etc...).... I wish there was an in between ...and now with the GTO's aero package there is....
Performance- the EVO MR will be the better handling car...period...no chance that 3700 lb car can compete ..... the MR has better brakes, but the 05 Goat is still VERY good (way bettern 04)
Speed- easier in the GTO (launching), both are fast as hell and great bangs for the buck.... something to love in a turbo 4 and a roaring LS2 V8
Upgrade- both have great aftermarket support..... EVO has Vishnu etc..... and the GTO and the LS2 mainly, have Lingenfelter etc....
Basically..... you cant go wrong either way.... I think I may end up with a 05 Black GTO.... until I can afford the 06-07 C6 Z06 Vette

I just got an MR a few weeks ago. I think you really just need to drive them both. Definitely do not buy the 04' GTO cause it's a deal. Leasing is a bad deal cause they always find a way to stick you in the end. The 04' GTO has nowhere near the performance levels of the MR. The only good thing about it is the low end tq. I have a LS1 TA also, and I miss the ridiculous ease of power it has, it runs 11's on Nitto DR's. I think the 05 GTO with the LS2 will be a lot better. Braking, and cornering in the MR are phenomenal. Just take one out and hit a 60* right turn at 60+ mph while keeping the pedal floored and feel the adrenaline rush. Now if you want to cruise in comfort and run mid 12's without breaking a sweat, the 05' goat is the way to go. Definitely drive both first though.

I was thinking about buying an evo mr but decided against it due to mitsubishi's financial problems. My friend has a 2004 GTO that he bought based on ultra low financing. I have to admit as much as I dislike GM cars, this car is really special. As previously stated in other people's posts, the evo is faster [0-60mph in 4.7 sec compared to 5.3 in the GTO] handles much better and gets better gas millege. Lets not forget all wheel drive and 4 doors to boot. GTO is a nice car, but the evo is a better car.

Fun is a relative term.... burnouts , drifting and a huge V8 can be lots of fun.... disecting a corner is great fun,....
I think they are both great cars depending on where you are in life

A guy had an 04 GTO at the track a few weeks ago. He couldn't do any better than 14.1 @ 101 mph. This is at sea level down here in Florida.
I was not impressed. I expected a lot more trap speed.
The car isn't ugly but its extremely boring to look at. It looks the same as several other models Pontiac puts out. On the street the average person wouldn't even take a second look at a GTO.
So if you want a car that isn't going to stand out (like an STi or EVO) then get a
GTO. If you like attention and being notice go for the EVO. I get looks everywhere I go in my STi. I'm sure its the same in an EVO. The kids just love EVO's and STi's.

That's all good feedback, but as you can see, i didn't get the GTO.. (almost did, but didn't have the GM card for the additional 5000 off). However, my quest did not end here. In fact, i saw something else... Insanely beautiful (one of the most beautiful-est cars), very powerful, and who knows, may even beat the evo. I'm talking about the 3rd generation RX-7. Awesome in the corners, RWD, and beautiful. Beautiful to look at. Interior, and exterior (if you do the Spirit-R conversion) eventually i figured that the cost will probably be about the same. maybe less for the RX7. But of course, this is probably the wrong forum to post. Then, someone gave me an insane deal on an Graphite MR for 32,5K. wow... decisions decisions...
