EVO as first manual car?

Deal is already set so don't try to talk me out of this one .

But rest assured, I learned how to drive stick on a friend's integra and have been able to practice a few times on another friend's S13. Of course the drive wheel layout is completely different in all 3 cases so I am a bit worried.

Can anyone give me any pointers in getting used to driving manual in an EVO? I don't want to burn out the clutch too quickly as fast as they deteriorate already compared to most other cars.

Thanks.

Beware u might encounter some knotchey shifting at first but u get use to it, and just accelerate around 1500 to 2000 for regular acceleraton,

the clutch also feels better with time. when I first drove my evo I could barely feel the clutch -- it was like just pushing a pedal...could never feel it grab. Now the clutch atleast feels solid...I can tell when it grabs.

Other than that...don't drop the clutch over 3k --- heh, you'll be in for a fun suprise

evo is my first manual car and i learned on it as well. i purchased it about a month and a half ago and i am very comfortable driving it. just take it easy at first and it will start to come to you almost naturally.

Thanks for the feedback.

I can't wait, should be here by tomorrow evening. I am just worrying that I will hurt it during break-in...

Just got the car 20 min ago. I am extremely excited. I test drove it for about 5-10 min when I got home. It is noticeably harder to drive than my friend's 240sx. I am a bit discouraged but I hope I will just get used to it.

My EVO is the first car I owned that is a stick. Trust me, you get used to anything. I helped to learn on my friends STI since her clutch is about as stiff as mine. Once you get in a Honda or something now you'll drive like a pro cause the clutch is so much easier. Two weeks from now you'll be fluid......
