this is completely off-topic, but i must say, i have been around alcohol since i was very young, 13-14. my dad used to let me drink a beer, or have a glass of wine with dinner. because of this, i have always been a responsible drinker. i do get drunk sometimes, but if i do i don't drive. and i have never gone overboard with drinking. and i've never been out of control with it. being taught at a young age how to handle alcohol gave me EXPERIENCE (there's that word again!) with it. it also wasn't that big a deal when i went to college, and now that i'm 21 i have learned to enjoy drinking to get that buzz and not getting so retardedly drunk that i do stupid things like go driving and kill people.

Driving an Evo is an interesting experience and can be really scary in the hands of an inexperienced driver.

e.g. Y has an Evo and wants to drive fast. Goes into a corner really quick and the Evo can handle that. But the car ahead is slow, so Y has to slam on the brakes. . . so what happens then? Evo spins and a possible crash.

I really hope that the more inexperienced drivers here take a "performance driving" class with their Evo before going onto the road. If you at least know what your car can/cannot do, you wont get into bad situations.

i mean bottom line is that even if you're only 18 or so and you're an expirienced driver and knows what you are doin, why not? you wont get into trouble right? unless somebody pulls up to your car and start to **** you off, to hell with that *******, you dont want to get a freakin speeding ticket or worse get into an accident do ya? so drive safely and think before you do somethin, it might save your freakin life

I guess all of us "older" folks are NOT saying "Don't get the EVO". However, we just want younger people to think twice to see if the EVO is SUITABLE for themselves.

Again, it's not like we cannot afford the car and jealous or something like that. For example, RA29 used to own a EVO VI TME...I drive an Audi TT myself.

A lot of you are missing the points. If you can handle the car/have to money to buy it, more power to you.

My word, This topic is so screwed up, I give up. Rasputin completely mistook my post and by his post I know he didn't get it. Oh well its pointless to continue this thread. I'm not going to reply to this one again but I'll leave my two cents.

Lots of young people can't handle an Evo.
Lots of old people can't handle an Evo.
Lots of young people think their Vin Diesel.
Lots of people are freakin morons for idolizing that bald loser.
Don't just assume that EVERY teenager can't handle an Evo.

I'm out.

okay I read (almost) every single post in this damn thread.

sure drive any damn car u or your parents can afford but realize a few simple facts:

1) u get in an accident under your parents ins. and.....drum roll... their deep pocket are fair game. This happened to my brother in NYC. a cab ran a light and hit him the pass. sue him and the taxi co./cabby, guess what ,the cab driver was 95% he was 5% (driving a little too fast) guess which sum was larger, went after my folks -and suddenly ....my brother and i had our own policys.
u have no money if your parents were smart they'd GIVE u the money to pay for your own policy! It's cheaper in the long run.

2)driving exp. is knowing when NOT to do things not skills (for the most part). I'm a great driver everyone who watches me drive makes a point of telling me this. why because I read the road. Ever see someone blow by u on the right and then get boxed in? Gets a little pissed and cuts in frt of u w/ 2 inches to spare. Thats a young driver. I will get to the exit before this guy because I can see 200 yards ahead who is moving and who is a rolling road block.

3)not every moron needs to be shown who's boss. Life has ****ed many of these guys already no reason to point it out to him at every light.

pk!

Having your own policy at a young age is not necessarily the best idea. Especially depending upon where you live and what you drive.
