stock muffler

I have a 2002 Oz Rally. Does anybody know if the stock muffler is welded to the piping. I'm getting an aftermarket performance muffler. is it easy to remove the muffler from the piping to replace the muffler. Help me!!

If you are just getting a muffler, you will have to cut the stock one off and weld the new one on, because the muffler is connected to some piping that goes passed your axle. If you were to get an axle-back exahust, you could just unbolt that whole section and bolt the new one on.

Oh, and you can bolt on an RRM or RMR muffler.

I personally went with the cust cat-back. I got to choose the exhaust I wanted the size of the piping and the tip style.

Yes, and no one seemed interested in my trying to organize a group buy so fuggit. I'll be one of the few with a nice bolt-on cat-back.

Yes, the muffler is welded to the axle-back section. If you get a muffler welded on you may want see if it would cost much more just to get the whole axle-back section made so you can bolt it on and off if you should ever desire. I guess it depends upon cost.

Thermal R&D supposedly has cat-back sections and so does VRS. From the looks of the VRS is replaced the 2nd cat as well though. I still say a mandrel bent custom cat-back is the best solution for your money, but if you want to DIY then there are your other options.

The muffler they sell is IDENTICAL to the Magnaflow setup sold on RRM, but runs about 100$ cheaper. It is bolt on, looks great, and sounds great. I'd get that one.
