You say you're not going to argue with what Mike Valentine says, but then you come to your own conclusion that the middle of the windshield is best. If you read the entire page for that link you will see that there are tradeoffs to all mounting locations. However, mounting high will give you the best chance for advanced warning. The reflections through other windshields helps the most.

1. My V-1 has paid for itself X10 - only one lasered ticket (and he only got me for 39 in a 30, I was doing almost 60 when I saw him/the laser warble sounded...)

2. Whoever is hating on the V-1 and touting the Passport is being kind of petty about it - almost like bashing another car that performs similar to our EVO's... the V1 and the Passport are also pretty similarly priced. (400 and 300, last I looked...)

3. With the new POP feature on the V-1 *that* playing field is level.

4. Whomever got ticketed by "being clocked" from behind probably didn't get "radar-ed" at all - all they have to do is look at their own speedometers if they're following you. I read in C & D that most CHiPs do "traffic enforcement" that way, the officer's speedo's are officially calibrated, and if he's behind you going 85 and he's not catching up - bingo.

5. I've been lasered a bunch of times - here in Jacksonville it happens pretty often, but I've also had it happen in Georgia, Virginia, and TWICE IN WEST VIRGINIA. The one assbag there was a super small-town cop sitting in the median on the interstate at about 2 AM. I don't remember why I wasn't speeding, but he would have nailed me for sure, because of where he was. So, don't think that lasers are rare things.

these just detect. be very careful about jamming devices, check your local and state laws on that. I know in Oregon and Washington that radar and laser jamming devices are not illegal, but if you get pulled over and they find you have that equipment, there'd be no talking your way out of that ticket

no thats PA in ct you can have detectors. also there is no such thing as a working jammer because they are illegal and go against federal regulations. plus even if the cops can't catch you on laser/radar they can still see you fly by.

^well, trust me, you can get jamming equipment, legally, and use it (I only know about OR and WA) because CarToys sells it here. The power it outputs has to remain below levels that the FCC sets for private use in those frequencies, and the idea is to not be 'stealth' or to continue at a high speed, but give you time to slow down to the speed limit. Most, if not all jammers, will only jam for 1 or 2 seconds, enough time for you to get on the brakes and get the speed down
