New to the scene, looking for some pointers.

I currently just bought a 2002 lancer oz rally in good condition, silver, pretty much all stock. I am new to the scene of customizing cars, but I would love to have a car that isn't like the rest, or just stands out some. Couple things I were looking at were body kits, rear lights, and muffler tips. I will be on a somewhat tight budget, but don't want the parts to look cheap. Was just looking for any suggestions on what I could do to my car to spice it up. What products would do the job etc.

Just a little side note if recommending something, like the bodykit, I live in new york and travel alot, so snow and pot holes are most likely to be around alot. But I would love something that gives it a lower look or feel.

not trying to be mean, but read up:

for looks alone, try RRM's main site as mentioned above.

one word: Performance.
don't bother with looks right now. Your car is good with looks. Work on performance. I recommend making your car breathe better. Get a catback first. YOU GOT PM!

Suspension is a plus! Also, what's with the opening on the hood? I'm not bashing. I'm just... wondering.

Instead of a body kit, you could get the RRM evo style grill.. or maybe another one by <insert other brand here>.. Then get some eyelids. That would definetly enhance the look of the front end.. then you could get some carbon fiber style taillights. That would look nice. And a window tint job.

Oh, and if you want to get the lower look to the car, I would recommend Eibach Pro Kit springs. They will only lower the car about 1.5in at the most. It will give it a good look, 10x better handling, and also still be high enough for the snow. (I live in michigan and we get quite a bit of snow and I'm still ok.)

oh my, please tell me your kidding. the truth is, that IS NOT 400 well spent. sure, most of us have done it, but still. if you really want to change your exhaust tone, yeah, go for the catback (when choosing your piping keep in mind if you are going FI or not)

as for intake, alot of people have done a custom one for under 50 bucks: just a new filter rigged up. lots of info around here, and lots of information on good prices on products

RRM has been mentioned a few times, so a warning: rrm is great. great service, decent selection and a good place for window shopping as to what you want done. sure, rrm is sometimes the only place for stuff like throttle bodies and intake manifolds if you don't want to wait or have them done yourself, but they are not the godsend everything thinks they are. there are TONS of other vendors that have comparable or better products at cheaper prices, so just look around and i'm sure you'll find the best price

thats the key: look around for the best price and best product to suit your needs and your taste, just don't buy the nike shoes cause it says nike on them

maybe it came that way......maybe he bought it used or something

anywho, if its functional (if and only if) i say keep it. frankly, with a different front end via rmr lip and ralliart grill, that scoop would look cool

brush off the haters, if you like it, keep it

The hood scoop did come with it, I was looking at ES lancers when an employee wanted to get rid of this car and pick up a brand new one. So I got it for 8000 and 4 brand new tires. We only have one mitsubishi dealer for miles so it was the a great deal to get. Alot of people are suggesting performance parts, which I agree better to take care of the car, Which I will, but overall I would like a great look inside and out. Now a few suggestions were Eibach Pro Kit springs, Front grill replacement, and rmr lip(not quite sure what this is), would this be a good start?
